With the buzz within the respective wikimedia communities about the 2021 Wikimedia Foundation Board election, Wiki In Africa thought of how best to amplify the discussion. WikiAfrica Hour episode 3 was the answer.

For the third edition of Wiki Africa Hour: WMF Board: Demystified , Ceslause Ogbonnaya, hosted a range of guests who have been involved with the WMF Board processes one way or another. Guests included Mahouton Possoupe (WMF Board election Facilitation for French language), Zita Zage (WMF Board election Facilitation for Sub-Saharan Africa region), Mohammed Bachounda (WMF Board election Facilitation for French language and MENA region), Florence Devouard (Former WMF Board chairwoman), Maria Sefidari (Former WMF Board chairwoman), Reda Kerbouche (Former WMF Board election candidate), Douglas Scott (Former WMF Board election candidate), and Eliane Dominique ((Former WMF Board election candidate)

  • Mahouton Possoupe, Zita Zage, and Mohammed Bachounda from WMF Board election Facilitation team were invited to give context on what the election processes look like.
  • Florence Devouard, (Former WMF Board chairwoman) was invited in order to give a sneak peek of her board experience from yesteryears and how much the WMF Board has evolved over the years.
  • Maria Sefidari (Former WMF Board chairwoman) was also invited to share her WMF Board journey while managing personal life, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Reda Kerbouche, Douglas Scott and Eliane Dominique were invited to share their motivations, intentions and aspirations for putting their names forward for the 2021 WMF Board election.
