Wiki Loves Africa is the photographic, video and audio contest running in Africa since 2014. The theme this year was “Africa Creates” and aimed at capturing representations of the process of creation or manufacture in Africa.
A campaign on the ISA tool was organised to help to add better descriptions onto the photographs already uploaded to Wikimedia Commons during the contest so that they are more useful on Wikipedia and Wikidata.
Results of the campaign:
We are delighted to report that 39 contributors were able to improve 13511 images in the category:Images from Wiki Loves Africa 2024 with 34370 contributions!
The Winners:
The top two users who won internet bundle or Amazon gift cards worth $50 and $25 are:
- User:Kamara2109, 1st place, managed to make 19343 contributions
- User:Iamgreaced, 2nd place with 5193 contributions
Huge contributions were made to improve Africa’s images! We look forward to continuing our work to improve the searchability and visibility of the African continent.
